Star Wars Episode VII Might Be Titled Rise Of The Jedi

We’ve been hearing for awhile now that Disney might announce the full, official title for Star Wars Episode VII this week. That official announcement hasn’t happened yet, so rumor’s taking over where press releases have failed.

Though it’s a little unclear where they’ve gotten their information the good folks over at Latino Review are floating these possible Episode VII titles…

Star Wars Episode VII: Return of the Sith

Star Wars Episode VII: Rise of the Jedi

The rumor is that these were the working titles George Lucas had in mind for his next Star Wars movie before he turned the franchise over to Disney and JJ Abrams. While Disney and Abrams are under no obligation to use George’s titles now, it’s worth remembering that earlier this week we learned that Lucas has Episode VII director JJ Abrams’ ear and talks to him constantly about Star Wars. He’s probably pushing for one of those ideas and JJ Abrams might be listening.

The interesting thing is how diametrically opposed those two titles are, despite the fact that they are apparently possibilities for the same story. Rise of the Jedi would seem to make the most sense, given that this takes place after Return of the Jedi. That movie was about getting rid of the Sith. Having just gotten rid of them in the last film, it seems a bit early for their return. Don’t we need to see the new Jedi solidify their position in the galaxy first?

Personally, I’m hoping the new Star Wars movies won’t be about the struggle between the Jedi and the Sith at all. It’s been done to death in the prequels and it didn’t really work. There are other, more interesting stories that can be told in the Star Wars universe. Not everything needs to revolve around the endless struggle between the light and dark side of the Force.

The Lone Ranger: My Review

The-Lone-Ranger_1280x800

Ok, So here we go. After about a half hour of this I was wondering how this movie got such awful reviews. My Fiancee and I watched the whole thing and WE as adults liked it. I am no prude or bible thumper by any means. BUT I want to point out my gosh how Disney has changed over the years. I remember as a kid getting all excited when a Disney movie was coming on, had on my footie pajamas, had popcorn ready to go. What in the world happened?? They never ever used to depict Whorehouses, and women in tight corsets and deep cleavage.  After a canyon gunfight that produces a lot of bloody wounds, the killer cuts out the heart of a Ranger and eats it,  A bandit slaps a woman, A man slaps a boy in the face. Numerous characters are slaughtered in an intense battle scene. When the Lone Ranger and Tonto on there way to Red’s Brothel, they pass through a somewhat Hell-Fair. They have puppeteers with demon-like puppets and skeletons. May be freaky to young audiences. Anyways those are the biggies to me. Please let me reiterate As and ADULT me and my Fiancee enjoyed the film. However if my kids were still young I would never let them watch this until the were at least 13 or 14. Disney has REALLY went down hill as far as I am concerned, maybe this is why this movie did so awful. At any rate the innocence of Disney, the charm , the pure uncontrolled excitability I experienced as a child is gone. If I would have seen this as a child it would have scared the crap out of me.
