“Mission: Impossible 5” Set for Christmas Day 2015

The last time we heard about “Mission: Impossible 5” was back in August, when it was revealed that director Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) will re-team with Tom Cruise for the new movie, which will be produced by JJ Abrams.

Now comes word that Paramount Pictures has set the new film to hit theaters on Christmas Day (December 25h), 2015, which is just one week after Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode VII.”

“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” the fourth film in the franchise, also opened in December (December 16th, 2011) and went on to gross almost $700 million worldwide, easily becoming the highest-grossing “Mission: Impossible” installment.

The script is written by Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3). It’s still unclear if Jeremy Renner, Paul Patton and Simon Pegg will reprise their roles.
