When the photos of Prince George’s christening were released this week, the world oohed and ahhed.
The Duke of Cambridge arrives, holding his son Prince George, at Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace, ahead of the christening of the 3-month-old by the Archbishop of Canterbury in central London.
The affair was attended by only close relatives and friends. Those in attendance included the royal couple’s family members, including their parents and siblings, as well as Queen Elizabeth II, who gathered for the portraits in the Morning Room at Clarence House, the official residence of Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

George, the son of Britain’s Prince William and wife, Kate, sat stoically through dozens of photos following the Oct. 23 ceremony at St. James Palace. Dressed in a frilly satin gown and freshly anointed with water from the River Jordan, the little heir to the throne looked unimpressed throughout most of the ritual. Even the rare collection of four generations of royals, including his great-grandmother the Queen, failed to rouse George from his passive mood.

The family had gathered in the same chapel to pay their respects to William’s mother, the late Princess Diana, before her public funeral in 1997.
George has been kept mostly out of the public eye since he was born on July 22. Some royal watchers camped out for 24 hours for to catch a glimpse of the guests before the VIP crowd slipped behind closed doors on Wednesday.
He faced a tougher challenge with the young heir. George didn’t smile for just anybody. It wasn’t until he was alone with his high-powered mom and dad that he began to let loose. A smiling William and Kate are shown in one posed shot seated with their son on the Duchess’ lap. George looks directly at the camera, eyes open, mouth open and arms stretched wide — ready for his closeup.
What a gorgeous baby! With the looks and genes in that bloodline this is going to be one dashing Prince when he gets older.
